Laplink today announced that its best-selling PC transfer and migration software, PCmover, now
supports migrations to PCs using the Windows XP Media Center operating system. Consumers now have a
way to move files, settings, and even entire programs quickly and automatically from their old PCs
to their new Media Center PCs. PCmover is the only product that moves all programs between PCs,
even if they have different operating systems and hardware.
PCmover is popular among home and business users alike because it solves the problem of how to get an old PC?s functionality and ?personality? to a new PC without having to reinstall and rebuild everything manually on the new machine. A product like PCmover is especially critical for new Media Center Edition purchasers who generally have a much greater quantity of data and applications to move.
Emir Aboulhosn, VP Marketing Communications, explained, ?Media Center Edition purchasers are people with gigabytes of media files crammed onto their old PCs. When the time comes to move everything over to their new system, the task can be overwhelming. Now they can just relax and let PCmover do it for them.?
PCmover moves files of any size and type, as well as network, browser, firewall, and security settings, and other individual preferences. Even more importantly, PCmover transfers entire programs and related settings, saving PC users hours of work reinstalling, re-registering, and reconfiguring their applications.
As well as supporting migrations to Media Center PCs, this latest release of PCmover includes several new features:
PCmover is available from major retailers, starting at $29.95 for the Network Edition version and $49.95 for the Standard Edition (which includes a Laplink USB cable for fast and easy connectivity between PCs). PCmover can also be purchased online at www.laplink.com.
For more than 25 years, Laplink has been the leader in providing software used for PC migration, remote access, file transfer, and synchronization. The privately-held company was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington.
